MANUFACTURING OF A TIMBER HOUSE

Algorithm of a timber house constructing:

I. Ordering and manufacturing of a timber house.

Analysis of drawings, presented by our or client’s architecture project. A detailed study of technical solutions and potential changes. Evaluation of expected constructing period and expenses. Conclusion of a Contract. Confirmation of an Order.

II. Selection and preparing of wood

III. Cutting of selected wood

Rounded timber is processed to a form, vernacularly called “a carriage” (rectangular profile logs cut from the both sides). Dimensions: width: 16-26 cm, height: 28-60 cm. The specific dimensions are agreed with a client individually. The mentioned variety of dimensions ( see the photo)  is available only upon manual processing

IV. Timber desiccation.

In the ancient times naturally timber has been desiccated for 5 years, but nowadays this process is transferred to cameras. It undoubtfully helps to quicken a house constructing work. Our timber is desiccated exclusively in desiccators (18-20% moist). Wet timber should not be used in construction for the following reasons:

-         lack of ventilation changes its color ( become blue or black), planting putridity or must,

-         change of dimensions, because of reduction during desiccation,

-         change its angle,

-         severe deformation caused by the immediate temperature changes,

-         roughen severely while planed

Well desiccated  timber:

-         settles less up to two times,

-         withstands 2-fold more load

-         has better esthetic properties

V. Work in a workshop

Logs are chopped, processed manually, and a house is assembled in a workshop.

Why manual work is so important?

Manual processing of logs has been derived from the ancient times. Every log is processed separately. Walls are assembled by mounting logs horizontally one by one. Natural logs, “carriages” are of a different height, so, when laying a top ring, a longitudinal cut of a laid log is assembled in order to match a lower log bending precisely. Logs, notched in this way, mould each another tightly. At intersection points logs are locked with under a set angle tightly. The houses look so natural, that stay such even after its processing.

VI. A control inspection

To perform a control inspection, the manufacturer of a house invites a client in order to agree on all important matters before mounting on a prepared basement.

VII. Holes for electricity supply

Holes for electric supply (according to an internal electricity system project, made in advance) are drilled in a workshop during a control assembly.

In order to ensure a structural integrity of walls, wooden nails are hammered in areas beside edges of logs.

In case internal walling is paneled, cuts are milled in order to inject a plaster board panel.

Columns are consolidated with special anchors, regulated during settling. During the first two years a four time regulation is needed, when only two times is necessary in the third year and one time- during later exploitation.

X. Polishing

A final polishing is performed after arrangement of walls.

X.I. Painting

Paints and woodstain are the main protective measures for timber houses, it protects of aging, UV rays and moisture. Paints could be transparent or colored, when an internal woodstain should be free of toxic components, also avoid an unpleasant smell afterwards.

If using all measures of protection, a timber house is under equal (or a higher level) protection, if comparing to houses, constructed of other material.

XII. Windows

Slots, cut in the logs, serve for balk to be put in. As window boxes, manufactured by the clients, or ordered with windows, are tightened to balks, during the settling there is no obstacle preventing logs from duly settling. We offer secured windows and doors with two ways of opening: the European (opened internally) and the Scandinavian (opened externally).

XIII. Roof

Flexible structures of a roof are mounted the first. In order not to be blown, joists are mounted along stringers, avoiding fix tightly to external walls. A tight fixation is possible if triangles of rear facades are not of timber or in case of other reasons.

XIV. Interior

The interior is decorated upon an individual request and ideas, offered by a client or a designer.

XV. Delivery of keys

Keys are delivered if all agreements and undertakings are implemented and Contractual obligations of the both parties (terms, quality, payment ) are executed.
